Drawing Elsie: Day 3

março 23, 2012,6 Comments

On day 3 I was feeling so happy with the fact I was drawing that I completely forgot I was supposed to draw inside the squares I traced and when I noticed it I had a leave coming out of this day's square. That's fine, I guess. Just a sneak peek of what's to come.
On a side note, my sister saw my drawing yesterday (with a little bit more drawn than what I'm showing here) and she said it was looking great. So I had an inner smile while drawing the rest of the day. I just hope I did't jinx myself.

  3. WOW.. Can I just say.. having gone through a university fine art program/drawing classes/animation etc. you are one of the best FREE-HAND portraitists I've seen.
Even working from a paper reference, my classmates measure/somewhat grid their sketches before they would even dare start to shade it all in.
I don't think I know a single person comfortable with the accuracy of their freehand drawing.

  4. Thank you so much for the compliment! I'm a bit the opposite: I don't think I'd be able to work with a grid. I've tried once, drew a square and after one minute I gave up. I find it so much easier to draw free hand, I guess it's because I'm just so used to draw from observation that trying something else right now just wouldn't work for me... :)
